Green Flag status Woodford Park is located in the centre of Woodley and provides a diverse range of facilities for residents and visitors of all ages. The one missing piece to truly making this space memorable was the play space being in desperate need of refurbishment.

Therefore, Woodley Town Council was delighted to announce the long-awaited ‘destination’ play area project for Woodford Park, catering for all ages and abilities which would be delivered in 2022. Following a successful public consultation with local residents with over 700 responses, Proludic was selected from several tendering contractors to deliver this exciting project.

This first-class play area was funded by £200,000 of developers’ contributions via Wokingham Borough Council, with £57,000 additional funding from Woodley Town Council. Additionally, Proludic facilitated making this play area as green as possible by offsetting 31.6 tonnes of carbon dioxide. tonnage estimated that this site has emitted to be produced, by supporting a portfolio of verified carbon reduction projects.

Proludic’s Area Manager worked closely with our Designer department to create a design that enabled all users to experience the thrill of playing at different heights. We included a playhouse to offer toddlers a safe ground-level play space; a DDA-compliant ramp taking users to various play features including a double-width inclusive slide; a junior Kanope play unit with 1.77m decks; and finally, a giant 7m Kanope unit with a challenging net climber and twisting tube slide to deliver that all-important ‘wow factor’ every destination site must deliver.
