Project Story: Burford Town Council recognised the need to revitalise its outdated play area, which had become worn and uninspiring for local families. To meet the diverse needs of the community and provide an inclusive and engaging space for all ages, Proludic was enlisted to design a creative story-themed play area that would breathe new life into the space.
The objectives of the project were to transform the play area into a vibrant, imaginative and inclusive space that caters to the needs of all of the community. The collaboration between Proludic and Burford Town Council has resulted in the successful transformation of the play area into a vibrant and inclusive space for the community. By incorporating creative storytelling, inclusive design, and thrilling play elements, the project has created a destination that fosters imagination, promotes social inclusion, and enhances the quality of life for residents of Burford. The new play area stands as a testament to the power of innovative design and community collaboration in creating spaces that bring joy and enrichment to people’s lives.

Specific aims of the project included:

•Designing a creative story-themed play area that sparks imagination and encourages active play.
•Introducing new, inclusive equipment to accommodate children of all abilities, including those with mobility challenges.
•Providing a variety of play elements that cater to different age groups, from toddlers to older children.
•Enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the space while maintaining its functionality and accessibility.

Proludic collaborated closely with Burford Town Council to design and implement the new play area, incorporating the following features:

•Creative Story, Themed Design: The play area was transformed into an enchanting woodland setting, featuring imaginative play structures and themed elements that tell a captivating story. This design approach encourages children to engage in imaginative play and exploration.
•Inclusive Equipment: Proludic introduced a range of inclusive equipment, including a wheelchair-accessible trampoline, sensory and tactile play panels, to ensure that children of all abilities can participate in play. This commitment to inclusivity promotes social integration and fosters a sense of belonging among all children.
•Multiplay Units: Two new multiplay units were installed, offering a variety of play experiences tailored to different age groups. These units provide opportunities for climbing, sliding, balancing, and imaginative play, catering to the diverse interests and abilities of children.
