Havant Borough Council, in collaboration with Proludic, has unveiled a stunning £200,000 renovation of the seaside play park at Eastoke Corner on Hayling Island. The revamped space is thoughtfully designed to cater to children, teenagers, and fitness enthusiasts. It now features a dedicated exercise zone with strength training stations, cardio equipment, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), and a floor exercise area. A key aspect of the park’s design is inclusivity. We highlighted this with a custom-built, wheelchair-accessible train unit inspired by the local Hayling Light Railway. This unique feature not only enhances social play but also ensures accessibility for users of all abilities. The use of durable materials like hot-zinc-dip galvanization and powder coating guarantees the equipment’s resilience against the coastal elements.
The renovation was carefully planned to address community needs, with Proludic working closely with Havant Borough Council. The MUGA serves as a central feature. This sports structure offers an open layout with lower fencing on one side to prevent a ‘cage-like’ feel. It supports a variety of sports, including football, basketball, netball, and cricket, with wall targets and a cricket wicket adding to the experience. Additionally, the ACTI’FUN Outdoor Fitness Equipment provides a versatile gym area focused on accessibility, including a callisthenics unit with wheelchair-accessible monkey bars and dip bars. This inclusive fitness setup caters to diverse exercise preferences, making the park a comprehensive and welcoming space.
This facility has been designed to have something for everyone to enjoy, because we know that places to play, exercise and spend time outdoors are really important to the physical and mental wellbeing of people in our borough.
